Chichijima is the largest island in the Ogasawara archipelago. Spanning 23.5 km² and home to around 2,000 residents, it offers a rare blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. The island is surrounded by forests and ocean waters rich in wildlife, much of it protected within Ogasawara National Park, which covers 66.29 km² of land and sea across Chichijima, its sister island Hahajima, and the surrounding waters.

The island’s forests, skies, and seas form a natural haven for local wildlife. Visitors can enjoy activities such as whale watching, snorkeling, and observing sea turtles, as well as exploring the island’s Marine Center or even helping release newly hatched sea turtles into the ocean.
